2Can't Take the TasteOct 15, 2008
As a concept, the SIGG bottle is great. The design is nice, it's metal (not plastic), sturdy, with a solid "looped" top. But in practice, it's not all it's cracked up to be. I've owned mine for about a year now. At first I really liked it and although I could notice a "unique" smell and taste occasionally, as long as it never got even a little warm (don't even think about leaving it in the sun), the flavor was minor. Over time though, It's gotten to where I can barely stand to drink the water I put in even if it's only been in there for 30 minutes.
My understanding is that SIGG bottles use a polycarbonate lining - This is what Nalgenes are made of! I believe they are exploring other lining options (after the brewhaha about BPEs), but I would recommend a simple stainless steel bottle over a SIGG. Not only are they about 25% of the price, but they won't have the flavor issues of these bottles.
One final complaint. If you're switching from a Nalgene, you'll immediately notice that you if you don't twist the cap all 273 rotations it won't be fully closed and will leak. Unlike the 3/4 twist of a Nalgene.
Clearly I don't love mine. But they are stylish.

5Love it!Aug 31, 2008
This is a great bottle. I ordered two, my only complaint is that someone stole one within a couple of weeks. It is not the easiest to clean, but it is very sturdy, attractive, and functional.

4Overall, a great water bottleAug 12, 2008
I love the Sigg water bottle. I use it only for water, but it does a great job keeping the water tasting like, well, just plain water, which is what you're looking for! My wife ended up buying four more, but the smaller kids version for my boys to use - they love them, too!

I would have given a 5-star rating, but the one complaint is that the inside of the opening you drink from is threaded. It doesn't bother me, but my wife finds the threads annoying when they hit your upper lip while you are taking a drink. Not exactly a deal-breaker, though, and a sport lid would take that problem away - but I only have the twist-off style lid.

3Dents easily, dispenser top difficult to useJul 09, 2008
The plastic bottle scare must be a boon to SIGG and other metal bottle makers. While I'm skeptical there's a real issue with plastic, I bought one of these for my wife and one for my teenage son since they were concerned.

It took my son one day to put two large dents in his, one big enough to effect capcity a bit, and I can't see any way to fix the dents.

SIGG might make different dispenser tops, mine has a four sided white and gray cross shaped gizmo on top that dispenses water when you twist it in a certain way (the word "CLOSE" is written in almost microscopic letters) and press it down, hard. It's almost impossible to dispense water at a decent rate and we've given up and just unscrew the top and drink from the bottle.

Buy one of these only if you're OK with the twist off top and you're not going to be knocking it around a hard surface that might dent the very soft walls. At $20 a pop, I expected much better durability and function. The instructions (in 20 languages!) are almost useless.

Addendum-- the bottle also imparts a metallic taste to the water.

I ordered this for my girlfriend and she loves it. She finds that it is attractive and very functional.
